Annē (Annie) Anne, Annette, On It!
Her/She
Violinist, Teacher, Model, Actor, Artist
Born Annette C Misener and youngest of three, I grew up being called “Annē.” Aurally, Annette and “on it” are similar enough, thus my studio name is born. More professionally, people call me Annette; I allow all my students to call me Annē, as I call my teachers also by their first names.
Education
I have both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Violin Performance. In 2012 I completed my Bachelor’s at the University of Memphis and graduated Magna Cum Laude; I received my Master’s from Purchase College, a State University of New York, in 2015. Alongside my rigorous academic studies, I have taught private lessons, worked as a violinist for area orchestras, weddings, and other gigs, aka performance opportunities.
Teachers & Pedagogy:
Ramona Sterling, UT; Stephen Sims, CIM; Diana Seitz, NYC; Dr. Joy Brown Wiener, Memphis; Ann Spurbeck, Memphis; Barrie Cooper, Memphis; Tim Shiu, Memphis; Jane & Lenny Schranze, Memphis; Pak Chung Cheng, Memphis; Libby Armour*, Memphis; Cal Wiersma, Ithaca; Dennis Kim, LA.
*Directly studied with Shinichi Suzuki.
Teaching
My first teaching experience came in the form of being a student leader within my violin ensembles. As young as 8, I was helping mentor younger students by modeling good behavior, posture, and active listening. Upon entering my teenage years, I would help teachers by leading sectionals or coaching one-on-one with students my age who were having trouble. My first paying private lesson was helping a friend prepare for our local orchestra’s audition. Since then, I have been contacted and contracted to privately teach from beginners to those advancing to the graduate level of college, and beyond.
Administration
My final two years in New York before the COVID-19 outbreak January 2020, I had the joyous opportunity to administrate the Violin Stars program for Bronx P. S. 246 enabling Kindergarten to Second graders to learn violin. Additionally, working in the capacity of the graduate assistant 2012 at Memphis, I was the Program Designer for the International Horn Symposium.
